Kia Orana & welcome to Apii Te Uki Ou…a great place to learn, laugh and be a kid throughout this 2019 school year.

Apii Te Uki Ou is a Ministry of Education and privately funded school located on the main island of Rarotonga. It is located in the village of Ngatangiia. We are an independent school, offering quality pre-school and primary education, run along similar lines to the New Zealand education system but with a distinctive Cook Islands flavour. Our mission is to “provide an inclusive, nurturing environment that caters for individuals needs, challenging students to excel in a changing world.”

Our school was established in 1993 by a group of dedicated parents who believed that more could be achieved in education than was available at the time and who shared a vision to create a school environment where every child had the opportunity to develop and grow to the very best of their ability; academically, socially and physically.

Today Apii Te Uki Ou is a thriving, energetic school with over 200 students. Approximately 60% of our students are Cook Islanders, 20 % are New Zealanders, with the remaining 20 % an exciting international mix that includes; Australian, Irish, French, Tongan, Filipino, Polish, Samoan, Japanese, NZ Maori, English, Spanish, South African, African, Chinese, American & Russian.

We are truly a school with an international flavour that is proud of who we are and what we offer. Please take time to explore our website, visit us on Facebook and feel free to contact us at any time._
